Lumiere London, the UK’s largest light festival, that is returning to the city from 18th to 21st January, has today announced its full programme, including several installations on the South Bank. Further to the announcement earlier this year that Lumiere London, the UK’s largest light festival, will be returning to the city in January 2018, 10 more artworks and their locations have just been revealed, including our very own piece on Leake Street! The Leake Street Arches project is well underway and we are keen to work with the local graffiti community as much as possible in the lead up to opening as much as we are once it all goes live. As such, we are looking for submissions from local graffiti artists to create art work for the project’s hoardings. Four plywood hoardings, which cover four individual archways, are now in place. On Thursday 21st September, over 100 stakeholders gathered together to celebrate the practical completion of Leake Street Arches. Held in arch belonging to new tenant Aures, guests enjoyed delicious Vietnamese food from other new tenants, the Banh Bao Brothers, and a range of craft beer and wine from The Italian Job. Adrian Lee, Development Director at LCR, welcomed everyone and gave some updates on how their vision for the project was being brought to life. Ahead of the IAAF World Championships (taking place in London from 4th to 13th August) and as part of their #IMoveLondon campaign, ASICS launched ‘Run the Tube’; an 85-metre multi-sensory LED tunnel installation. The epic LED tunnel made from hoops of light, first opened on Leake Street on 3rd August, before moving to the Olympic Park for 5th and 6th August then finally to Clapham Common from 8th to 10th August.
