On Thursday 21st September, over 100 stakeholders gathered together to celebrate the practical completion of Leake Street Arches.
Held in arch belonging to new tenant Aures, guests enjoyed delicious Vietnamese food from other new tenants, the Banh Bao Brothers, and a range of craft beer and wine from The Italian Job.
Adrian Lee, Development Director at LCR, welcomed everyone and gave some updates on how their vision for the project was being brought to life. He then introduced Counsellor Matthew Bennett from Lambeth Council who spoke of his excitement about the project and the benefit it will bring to the area.
Guests were then invited outside into the Tunnel to watch the official turning on of the new lighting. Designed by Nulty, it was great to see how this new lighting installation highlights the street art and makes the walk through the tunnel (which connects York Road to Lower Marsh) a far more enjoyable experience.
Having watched the multi-coloured lighting display (a work of art in its own right!) guests were invited back inside to enjoy music from DJ Complexion. With the Leake Street Arches mantra to ‘Fuel your creativity and leave your mark’ front of mind, guests were then taken off in smaller groups for a taster graffiti lesson. Led by Steph Warren, who has worked with numerous street artists over the years, including a stint with the infamous Banksy, guests were given tips on how to leave their mark.
Attendees across the night included representatives from Arcadis, Arup, BB7, Brandcraft, Build Studios, Corstorphine & Wright, Curtins, Department for Transport, Farebrother, Hollingworth Bissell, House of Vans, HS2 Growth Partnership, ITC Concepts, LCA, London Communications Agency, Lambeth Council, Motherclucker, Network Rail, Nulty, Park Plaza Hotel, Pinsent Masons, Qoda, Quod, RPS, Soundings, South Bank Employers Group, Titan Reality, Union Street Partners, We Are Waterloo and Wessex Capacity Alliance.
