We’ve dated in the dark, we’ve dined in the dark…next up is listening to music in the dark!
Pitchblack Playback is a series of listening sessions which invite the music-loving public to hear upcoming album releases and classic LPs like never before in intimate spaces. To ensure there are no distractions and that listeners are totally immersed in the music, events are staged in the dark.
Pitchblack Playback events aren’t aimed at audiophiles; they’re simply for lovers of good music who still value the album as an artform and who want to hear their favourite records and exclusive first plays through the most immersive, detailed and visceral sound experience possible.
Attendees will feel the bass in their bodies and hear details they never noticed before. Hearing is heightened when vision is cut off and so the music feel more intense.
Their first event in partnership with Aures London, will take place on Tuesday 6th November, and will see the world premiere of the new 5.1 Surround Sound mix of Jimi Hendrix’s legendary ‘Electric Ladyland’. The new mix was created by Jimi’s original producer, Eddie Kramer, as part of the new 50th anniversary boxset from the album and it’s the first time a surround sound mix of one of his albums has been created.
There are two sessions (one at 6.45pm and session two at 8.30pm) and there is a 50 person capacity for each one. One lucky attendee will win a copy of the boxset!
