Love (and Paint) is in the air this Valentine's

After a short break over Christmas, February 2020 sees the return of #LeakeStreetLIVE, the free public events programme that celebrates urban culture through food, drink, paint and play.

The new Spring programme will continue to incorporate free graffiti workshops accompanied by live music every Thursday night and will also include interactive public paint jams. The new programme begins on Thursday 13th February with a series of Valentines inspired graffiti workshops run by graffiti artist SOFLY. These one hour sessions include an introduction to basic graffiti techniques and a live demonstration. Dressed in overalls and masks, attendees then get the chance to put their new knowledge into practice by working on a collective Valentine's themed mural. Whilst the Thursday 13th session is open to all relationship statuses, Friday 14th will be designed for couples and Saturday 15th for singles. Running from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, these workshops will be accompanied by live music from Busk London’s amazing roster of emerging talent. Musicians have tweaked their playlists to the Valentines theme, with Friday’s performance featuring the best in love and romance and Saturday’s adopting a more anti-Valentines/single stance. Thursday’s session will showcase a more balanced backing track with songs about heartache and romance in equal measure!

After Valentines, the programme will return to normal; with graffiti workshops and live music running from 6.30pm to 7.30pm every Thursday.

The #LeakeStreetLIVE Spring programme will run alongside various ticketed events including a meditative dance experience led by Secret Sunrise and the award winning VAULT festival, which brings hundreds of theatre, comedy, cabaret and immersive experiences to Leake Street and the surrounding Waterloo neighbourhood for 8 weeks each year.
